Q: Where can I buy Sunset Ridge Buffalo meat locally?

A: If you are in the North Carolina area, here are four options:

1. Visit us at the Carrboro Farmers Market on most Wednesdays, 3:30 to 6:30pm April through November. (Call to verify when we will be there.)
2. Visit us at the Durham Farmers Market Saturdays 8 am -12 noon April thru November; Saturdays 10 am - 12 noon December thru March.
3. Person County Farmers Market 8am – 12noon alternate Saturdays May thru October

Q: How many bison are there in North America?

A: There are approximately 400,000-head in North America with less than 1000 of that total being in North Carolina.
Q: How long does it take a bison calf to become an adult?

A: Bison calves are normally weaned when they are around six months old. Females generally weigh around 300 lbs. and males weigh around 350 lbs at the time they are weaned.
Prime grass-fed slaughter animals weigh 900-1100 lbs and are approximately 30 months old.
Q: Can you keep buffalo as pets?

A: Most people who try to treat buffalo as pets end up getting hurt. - it's too dangerous as you never know when they might get spooked or become agressive.
